I wish I knew NOW
- POSTED ON: Apr 24, 2012

I can still remember when I was young enough to Know-it-All.

Time changes us and our attitudes.
As we age, we learn more and more and more,
and the more we learn, the more we realize how little we know.

My online time as the YouTube Grandma continually reminds me of this fact,
and I sometimes find communicating with young people to be a bit challenging.

Making Lists
- POSTED ON: Apr 23, 2012

I use lists to organize my thoughts, my plans, my goals, and sometimes even my feelings.

When I feel overwhelmed by the way Life is unfolding around me, and the things
it seems like I have to do in response to that, just making a list seems to make me feel better.

In fact, sometimes making a list can take enough of the pressure off,
that I actually don't have to do anything else at all.

I've noticed that this seems to hold true for a lot of people who feel a need to diet.
For some, choosing a diet, buying a book, marking a starting weight,
seems to relive the inner pressure to diet enough,
that they actually don't have to work to FOLLOW that diet.
Their decision to diet seems to allow them to continue with their current eating behavior.

Just an observation.

Want to be Happy?

This picture is from my latest "Ask Grandma" video, "Want 2 B Happy? which has now been
posted here at DietHobby in the GRANDMA section, and is located in the Ask Grandma category.
Some of you might be interested to know that all of these "Ask Grandma" videos show
locations at my home, and that I built this stained glass window myself.

Spring Cleaning?
- POSTED ON: Apr 21, 2012

It's occurred to me that some of my cleaning basic instincts
might be involved my recent organization of this DietHobby website.

It's spring, and what I'm doing is some technical "spring cleaning",
which…although mentally demanding…isn't physically challenging
like spring cleaning my house, which seriously needs some reorganization.

This behavior reminds me of what my daughter used to do as a child.
She was responsible for cleaning her own room.
I'd try to be patient, but finally when I couldn't even walk through it
anymore without stepping on piles of toys and clothing,
I'd tell her that she had to stay in her room until it was clean.

A few hours later I'd go to check her progress,
only to find the room looking exactly the same,
but my daughter beaming at her progress because she had
organized all of her comic books alphabetically.
