Acceptance - AA Big Book, page 417
- POSTED ON: Jul 07, 2014

Learning this concept of Acceptance
has had a big impact on the way I look at my life.

More than 30 years ago, due to a relationship problem, I started attending ALANON meetings. I met someone there who was in OA (Overeaters Anonymous), and so I checked that out as well. For the following five years or so, I was an active member of both of these 12 step organizations; faithfully attended meetings; and I worked through the 12 Steps with a Sponsor who belonged to both groups.

Belonging to OA did nothing to resolve my problems with food and weight, but the experience was valuable because it taught me a great deal about myself. Belonging to ALANON taught me about Co-Dependency and how to focus on changing my own behaviors. Through my involvement with these groups, I discovered a Psychologist with expertise in alcoholism, addiction, codependency, and 12 step programs, and she provided me with many years of helpful Therapy.

My experience with 12 step programs has been positive. My boyfriend chose to go into Recovery; our relationship flourished; and after he was 3 years sober, we married, My husband now has almost 28 years of sobriety, and our marriage has been a long and happy one.

Independence Day - 2014
- POSTED ON: Jul 04, 2014

Today I declare my Independence from Excess Food.

I am the Expert on Me, and my personal eating choices are up to Me.
I am totally responsible for those choices because it is my Path and my Life.

Today my choice is to eat at mealtimes only,
and to take tiny, dainty bites from small portions of foods that I find delicious and delectable.
I will also enter everything in my individual computer food journal
.

Examples of
a tiny, dainty bite.
